My Christmas (Self-)Gifts

Editor's note: These photos were shot over several different days in different locations, so forgive me for any inconsistencies.

In lieu of presents under the tree, my parents give me money to spend on myself for Christmas every year. Sometimes I miss the thrill of seeing presents under the tree, but since I haven't had a Christmas tree for a while (we buy a fresh one if we're home for Christmas, which we haven't been for a couple of years) and I have fairly particular tastes, it's probably for the best that I just get the dough & buy what I want to buy.

Winding Down

Hola!

As of now, I'm going to take the opportunity to step back for the next couple of weeks and will resume regular posting in the New Year. I have a post scheduled for Christmas Day + there may be some others between Christmas & New Year (won't make any promises though), but other than that things will be pretty quiet on the blogging front as we head into 2016.

NOTD: Party Pout

I hadn't planned on doing this exact mani at all. I tried to paint my nails on Wednesday without success - my colour was coated on too thickly & my top coat was misbehaving. Trying to paint your nails in a warm house is a nightmare I tell you! Anyway, after seeing my chiropractor sporting festive red & silver glitter accented nails yesterday, I felt inspired to give this a whirl + after a brief halt in proceedings, I really wanted to get back on track with my summer Project Polish.

Gig Review: Jarryd James & Meg Mac - Enmore Theatre 4/12/15

A couple of Fridays ago, I trotted off to Sydney's Enmore Theatre to check out 2 up & coming names in Australian music, Jarryd James & Meg Mac. This was a bit of an unusual gig as they were co-headlining – something I’m not used to when I go to concerts – but they did have a support act in the form of another up & comer in the Aussie music scene, Kita Alexander. Somehow I managed to jot down some notes & take some photos (not great quality though) of the event, so for your reading pleasure here's what went down...

The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag

via Bustle
(Updated 10/7/17)

I’m pretty sure this tag has been floating around the interwebs since forever, but I discovered this over at Gypsies & Pixies the other day & thought it’d be fun to do & a fun way for my readers to get to know me…so here it is!

My Mood-Boosting Soundtrack

(Updated 6/1/16)

Hi everyone!

Not going to do a Weekly Happy List post this week, so instead I've got something along a similar tip for you.

Music is something that really feeds my soul and has long been a great love of mine. I love nothing more than having a big sing-along or an epic boogie session no matter what mood I'm in - so much so I have to stifle my natural urge to do any of these things if I hear a song I like in a shop or at the supermarket for fear of appearing looney tunes. Hell, I was singing & tapping along to stuff whilst creating this post...

The Importance of Sun Protection

via Kids on the Coast

Hi everyone!

Today’s post is something that I really want to talk about, something that is close to my heart & of utmost importance, especially now that it’s summer in Australia.

I’m talking about sun protection.

I know what you’re thinking. “Yeah sure, I know about all that slip slop slap bizzo, but do I really need to be so vigilant in the sun? Can I get away with not wearing sunscreen all the time? It’s not like I’m ever going to get skin cancer, right?”

Review: LAVANILA Body Butters (Pure Vanilla & Vanilla Summer)

Hi everyone!

How was your weekend? Hope it was a good one. Mine wasn't too shabby, although I'm still recovering (kind of) from a late night on Friday. I'm so not used to it!

Anyway, today’s post is all about a brand I discovered whilst holidaying in the US last year. I absolutely fell in love with LAVANILA’s body butters, used them up waaaaaaaay too quickly, then began searching for them in Australia all to no avail….until Natural Supply Co came to my rescue & started supplying them WOOOT! EDIT: They've since stopped stocking the body butters sadly. Probably due to Sephora Australia.

The Weekly Happy List #1

Hi everyone!

Today’s post is a little special & something that I would really like to feature on this blog every Friday, if I'm up for it.

This idea of mine comes from a defunct blog that I used to comment on and occasionally produced posts for. One of the regulars started this thing in the comments section called “things that made you happy this week” (or words to that effect) and every Friday all of us followers/commenters would do just that - post about all the things that made us happy that week. Sometimes our news was trivial, other times profound, other times exciting. It was, I suppose, a place where we could celebrate each other’s triumphs & provide words of encouragement and/or congratulations.

Empties Time! (October/November)

If I’ve learnt anything from reading beauty blogs, it’s this: everyone loves 3 types of posts – people’s stashes, shopping hauls and their monthly empty products. Today I’ve got the latter for you to enjoy reading, so grab a cuppa & settle in.

If I'm honest I don’t really finish up many products per month, so these posts will be a bi-monthly thing here at TNL, although I will do an empties post for December just so I can round off the year in a nice fashion & start afresh in the New Year.

Project Polish - Summer 2015/16 Edition

I’m a slacker.

No really, I am.

I didn’t quite get around to starting this blog in time to post about beginning a Project Polish series, so I’m going to explain everything in this post.

(First things first though….I must give credit to Hailey from Just Buy The Makeup for giving me the inspiration to do one of these.)

Hello brave new world! My name is Shell – what’s yours?
Now that we’re semi-acquainted, I guess you want to know a bit about this blog and what it will stand for right?
